What You Need To Know About the Cost Of Getting Married

Following changes announced by the Federal Attorney General’s Dept in June 2019, the fee to Sign the Marriage Register has now been reduced.

From July 2019, the new fee to sign the Marriage Register has been reduced to $350 (plus GST) and includes the lodgement of all legal paperwork. Couples will also receive their official Commonwealth Marriage Certificate immediately following their marriage. 

Your Marriage Options

Sign the Marriage Register (+ Legal Paperwork) $350 (Ex gst) 
This fee is for couples to sign the marriage register and legally register their marriage. This option does not include the exchange of rings or personal vows, but is perfect for couples who just need to register a legal marriage, couples having a ceremony overseas or international visitors wanting to marry in Australia.  
Short Wedding Service – Sitting Room – $50 (Ex gst)
This service includes the option to exchange rings and personal vows before you sign the marriage register. Photos are permitted in this service. This service is in the Sitting Room, which can accommodate up to 10 guests. ($350 – Legal Paperwork + $50 Room Hire) 
Small Wedding Ceremony – Drawing Room – $100 (Ex gst)
This service includes the option to exchange rings and personal vows before you sign the marriage register. Photos are permitted in this service. This service is in the Drawing Room, which can accommodate up to 25 guests. ($350 – Legal Paperwork + $100 Room Hire)
Large Wedding Ceremony – The Gallery – $200 (Ex gst)
This marriage service allows for the couple to exchange personal vows and wedding rings, before you sign the marriage register. The Gallery is our largest room and has a capacity of up to 50 guests. Photos are permitted in this service. ($350 – Legal Paperwork + $200 Room Hire)
 
External Wedding Ceremony – $200 (Ex gst)
 
Already have a gorgeous ceremony location? The Perth Marriage Office can facilitate a Commonwealth Marriage Celebrant to attend & officiate your wedding at the date, time and location of your choice. *Within Perth Metro Area ($350 – Legal Paperwork + $200 Travel Fee)
 
The Perth Marriage Office is now open 7 days a week – Monday to Sunday ($25 Sunday Surcharge Applies) 

(Fiancé Visa Letters are also available upon request. If you have been asked to provide the Department of Immigration with a Fiancé Visa Letter to support your Prospective Marriage Visa application, this can be obtained immediately after lodging your Notice of Intended Marriage, at your first meeting with the Perth Marriage Office.)

Once all legal paperwork has been lodged (usually within two weeks after the marriage), registered copies of the Marriage Certificate can be obtained from the WA Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages or any local court-house.

The Perth Marriage Office is open 7 Days – Monday to Sunday, for legally recognised weddings in a registry office format.
